Too bad that Mr. Blackwell passed away, he'd get a hoot out of this year's fashionistas. I'll do my humble best to fill his mighty shoes.

My comments below are keyed to this set of pix.

Lady Gaga: Planetary map of moons circling Uranus

Britney Spears: Ester Williams swimsuit meets Fredrick's of Hollywood tack-on.

Beyonce: Mae West rides again.

Taylor Swift: Class act. No one dared grab her microphone.

Katy Perry: Goth vixen hostess at Chinese buffet.

Pink: Runner up for class act.

Carrie Underwood: Alabaster vision inspired by Statue of Liberty. Lantern?

Miley Cirus: Stuck in the 60's in a gawd awful go-go dancer Halloween outfit.

Imogene Heap (two photo's): Mary Poppins with bad hair. Pray for a strong wind.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi: Wondered in from whatever street she was walking.

Niecy Nash: Graceful, but what's up with that mermaid tail?

Shaila Durcal: A dress for smuggling illegal aliens.

Shir Shomron: Replacing Billy Mays as Orange Glo Poster Child

Most of these are just regrettable.

I read a book not too long ago about how these people are courted and romanced by the designers to wear these outfits. It was quite interesting. I think these folks are so dazed by it all, they lose the ability to look in the mirror and say no, that's just wrong!

No wonder the peasants say that Hollywood is out-of-touch with reality. (I include myself as a "peasant".)
