Ive heard that colognes/perfumes dont really turn bad unless you keep them close to a light source. If you keep them close to a screen/monitor, or a window the photons in the light alters the chemical composition of the fragrance...I was told that if you store them in like a sock drawer or some other dark cool place, they will last for years and years and years...possibly even a lifetime.

This is so true. A storage space away from heat, light and humidity is key. I store mine in an armoire, closed off from excessive sunlight in our cooler downstairs living room, and far away from the humidity of the bathroom!

Obviously, I like florals. I love my perfumes and colognes. Some I've had for years. I keep them in their original containers in a drawer and that works for me. They still smell wondeful. I never wear a lot. Just a hint here and there. When I first started wearing perfumes at about age 13 my mother always told me "just the wrists and at the base of your throat". (Her signature scent was Chanel No. 5 because my dad loved it.)
