Lands End and J.Jill have the BEST women's jeans that are not "mom jeans" and not buttcrack jeans, either. They have several different "fits", and the denim is a good quality with just a little bit of stretch. Really nice, and Lands End is especially affordable.
I agree. I just got 2 pair of pants-jeans and cords-on sale at J Jill and they fit great. I can hardly ever find pants that fit me and are long enough.
Also, I can usually find some things I like at Talbot's on sale. Some would consider this a bit matronly, but also classic.
J Jill is fine for someone in her 30s and 40s who wants simple clothes in neutral colors. What's wrong with a pair of chinos and a cardigan? It's better than a pink track suit with something written across the butt.

Ehhh it depends. I'm close to 30 and I wouldn't shop there...but if you like it, go for it. I just can't imagine myself shopping in the same store my 60 year old mother shops in.
I'm 30 and love the clothes at Martin+Osa and Eddie Bauer. M+O is the older sibling of American Eagle, but significantly less trendy and better made. I also second the Anthropologie suggestion, but the clothing runs into the car payment prices.
