I'm not sure what to wear for my daughter's college graduation May l5th. Not liking the styles I see out there these days. A dress or skirt? Anybody have any ideas - we're in Wisconsin so it probably won't be too warm!!

That's an awesome question! ME TOO! Not Wisconsin...Boston. Who knows, cold, cool, comfortable, rainy...??? I have NO clue what to wear. And like you, what's up with the styles right now? Have they not watched What Not to Wear? LOL Maybe we will both get some suggestions here...
I'm not crazy about the floral skirt, but I like the pink twinset. It would look pretty with a pencil skirt and some pretty sandals.
A couple things to think about:
- Is this outside? Will there be shade? (in other words, will you need a hat?)
- Will you be climbing lots of stairs? (Factor that in when choosing shoes.)
I've been to three graduations in recent years--two college and one graduate school. In each case I was wearing either a suit or a sports coat with a tie. A large percentage of the parents, if not the majority, were dressed more casually than I was.
I think any of the suggestions you've received so far would be fine. For me, even though I was on the upper end of the style continuum, I thought it was appropriate considering the accomplishments we were recognizing.
Ok so it seems slacks are the concensus - only really questioned it as I don't have a job where I dress up, therefore don't have what you would consider "dressier" things. BTW it is inside - sorry I didn't mention that. Thanks for the suggestions and for pics of previous poster!!
I am graduating at the end of May in Boston in an indoor ceremony and the general consensus among my friends' mothers/grandmothers is a nice dress/ blouse-skirt combo or dress slacks with a nice blouse. Fathers (and my brother and boyfriend) are all wearing suits.
Previous commencement ceremonies have shown the mothers to be very dressed up in honor of the occasion, but that might just be the culture at my school.
