well....we've done it!!! my husband and I have decided to move to Arkansas. We have friends down there (we're in Iowa now) and we just love it. We've been down several times in the last couple years and never want to come home. So in June after the kids are done with school we will go down and not come back ;~)

We will be moving to Siloam Springs. Any pointers on preparing for a move to another state. We have 8 months to get prepared and move. Any insight on what parts of town are best would be great too!!

This is just about the worst advertisement for an escort service I have ever seen. You need to fire your marketing staff!

Funny. Asian escorts have penetrated all aspects of life in Siloam Springs. Live & work by it.

Can you fire yourself? Maybe the marketing staff needs English lessons.

i am thinking the same thing. It appears the moderators might have deleted something but forgot to delete responses to the response.

By the way, I don't know about the siloam Springs but here in Bella Vista there are a lot of people from Iowa..

Good luck. Does your husband or do you have jobs lined up? Will you be renting or buying, have you looked at housing yet? Just some things for you to think about. I am sure you are doing all the reseach you can.

Nita

From a former Iowan (current Arkansan), welcome to AR! I'm not all that familiar with Siloam (just been up there for a few things from time to time), but it all looked pretty nice to me. Siloam Springs is a nice community, good school district, and that area just keeps growing!

Moving is a pain though, I wish you the best. If I could afford movers, I'd have them do things for me, but the most recent move I rented a big truck and did it all in one 24 hour window (like ripping the bandaid off quickly, right? ), but I'd like to avoid doing it again for a while.

I looked into movers but we'd be looking at 3k!!! we're hoping to buy. I'm an insurance agent here in Iowa and have called down to Arkansas and my license will transfer. All I have to do is surrender my Iowa Insurance License and they will send me an Arkansas one. That's great news!! I'm hoping to get an insurance job down there. My husband stays at home with my youngest (3) and once he starts school full time he is wanting to start up his own business. We're looking forward to the move. By son (7) is so excited!! He asks almost every day to show him when we are moving on the calendar!

those of you from Iowa or that know Iowans in Arkansas.....does the Big Ten Network down there carry the Iowa Hawkeye games. We're planning on keeping Dish when we get down there but we have to have our Hawkeyes ;~)

I do believe they carry most of the Hawkeye games on Big Ten, but I'll admit to not keeping up with them very well these days.
It's good to hear your son is excited! Moving is often hard on kids and an enthusiastic attitude is a lot better than a grudging/sad one.
Movers are indeed quite pricey, that's why I ended up just renting a big truck and doing it on my own. I did a little hunting around for the best prices, and small word of advice- call or use "live chat" on the truck company's website to try to get a little better deal. I got a good deal on a truck from Penske after I got a discounted quote from Budget (using some promo code I found online) and asked the Penske rep on live chat if they could beat that (I preferred Penske over Uhaul or Budget, so I was hoping they could be price competitive). Sure enough, they did, and I saved about $40 a day on the truck. Good luck with the move, I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
