Mountains have snow on them. They're high enough people can ski on them. People do that in the Sierras, Rockies, Utah, near Flagstaff, Washington, even North Carolina, Virginia, and Vermont. Not in Arkansas. URL=http://www.sherv.net/][/url]

You have a pretty strict definition of mountains, then. The Appalachians are not snow-covered, except in a few areas, and not all the time. North Georgia definitely has mountains, for example. So does E. Tennessee.

And the mountains in upstate NY have skiing and snow, but because of their latitude, not their altitude. Same with Vermont. Its about how far north they are, rather than how tall they are. Vermont's mountains are no more impressive than the north Georgia Apps, and only slightly more prominent than the Ouachitas in Arkansas.

Exactly. The mountains in Arkansas are lovely, and are definitely "mountains" to this born-and-raised flatlander.

Of course they are: No, we all know they are not the Rockies or the high Sierras but they are lovely and fun. Right now, we are just a few weeks away from all the winter turning green and all the mountains coming alive. All one has to do is take the drive from Fayetteville to Ft Smith to see the mountains. OK, maybe they are more like very high rowing hills, but they are breath taking just the same.
