The problem OP might have period is going to be getting accustom to the traffic. If they decide on Fayetteville they may find it is totally out of their price range and many of the surrounding smaller towns (which I think are awesome) will still require some driving on 540.

nmnita~ You've hit the nail on the head! Price was one reason I suggested to the OP to rent now before making a financial commitment that may not be in her best interest---for "sanity" reasons

Ugh, I hate decisions! I wish I could rent, but with 2 dogs and 2 cats, it's kind of impossible, i know, I know, I should get rid of them... but we just can't! After I graduate in 2 years my fiance is going back to school at UofA so we should really be close too it. i'm kind of scared of a small town too because they may be more judgemental (I'm divorced and my fiance is my kids stepdad) and already in there own groups and we won't make any friends there.

It is challenging to find a place willing to rent to people with pets, but it can be done. I would certainly try to find a house to rent before buying. As for judgmentalism in Northwest Arkansas. Wherever you live you'll always run into judgmental people, but Northwest Arkansas has grown so much over the past decade, and so many people have moved to the area, that I truly don't think your divorce would be a blip on most people's radar.

you will not be judged all that much. Living with the father of your children in today's world even in a small town isn't unusual. Don't you live in a small town now? I understand about animas, when they are part of the family you can't just get just forget they exist. Buying is the best option, but Fayetteville will probably not be the answer.

I'd second this advice. Since you're coming from a small town in Oklahoma, I simply can't imagine you'd encounter any resistence or even raised eyebrows to a divorce or domestic partnership. NWA is far more open-minded than you think. Almost certainly moreso than a small town in OK.

"mom"--rentals that allow pets are not difficult to find. Homes are easier to find than apartments.

with 2 dogs and 2 cats decent rentals are hard to find anywhere There is a difference between rentals and decent rentals. I totally understand the landlords concerns as well. I am an animal lover, but if I had a home I don't think I would be too excited about renting to a family with 4 pets.

As a property manager, I can tell you there are landlords that welcome pets...sometimes even before kids ("big" kids e.g. college students)

It all comes back to knowing where to look.

Arkansas, like the rest of the country, has a high divorce rate. And in the time I resided there, I observed plenty of sleeping around. If folks have a problem with your family situation, they're likely hypocrites.
