Is the AQ Chicken House gone?? Or is it missed just because posters have moved away? I remember enjoying their fabulous fried chicken and fixin's over 50 years ago, and still have a menu tucked away somewhere.

Obviously, I need to get back to the Fayetteville/Springdale area for a visit...been away too long.

Who doesn't?

I worked at Alltel in Little Rock when they opened their first restaurant right around the corner from the office.

Whole Hog is great, IMO.

Here's a link to the Sassy's FB photos where you can see their patio: https://www.facebook.com/sassysredhouse/photos_stream

These are a few of the places I ate at during my 4 week stay on business last fall. I will also add to that and say that Harrison, Huntsville, and several other of the small towns in the area had some very nice southern food as well, these are just one's inside of the metro.

Although the Dixie Cafe is a chain, it's headquartered in Little Rock (or at least it was). Again, when I worked at Alltel, their main restaurant was down the street and I went their a lot.

Doe's sells their name via a franchise system but only the Greenville, MS and Paducah, KY locations are owned by members of the Signa family. DOE'S EAT PLACE :: LOCATIONS The Little Rock restaurant pales in comparison to Greenville. I wonder if you can get a real Doe's tamale other than in Greenville. Little Doe has stated on TV that only he has the recipe.

Every diner in NYC I've ever been to had grits on the menu. Grits are pretty common all over the country now, except maybe the PNW. If you can't get grits in NW Arkansas, that's just sad and pathetic.

BTW, as I write this I'm sitting across the street from Paula Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant in Savannah. On the buffet tonight: Fried chicken, fried catfish, roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, red rice, squash casserole, green beans, butter beans, corn pudding, Mac and cheese, black eyed peas, collard greens, sweet potatoes and hoe cakes and biscuits with sorghum syrup.

Wish y'all were here!

I know there is a Dixie cafe in Harrison as well. I have never tried it though!
