In fact, there are so many things for kids to do in NWA that I started a blog about it (
www.lifepluskids.com ). I am still working on the Guide to Kid Friendly Northwest Arkansas, but you can find lots of ideas in the blog section of the website.
I just posted on the spring classes at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, which includes theatre classes. Arts Live (mentioned in a previous reply) has ongoing drama classes for kids and TheatreSquared (the region's professional theatre company) hosts a summer drama academy.

The 'Boys & Girls Club of Fayetteville' is great ... offering a variety of activities including organized youth football and basketball as well as gymnastics, pottery, and many more activities.

There are a few places that offer theater for children. Some of them have been metioned already. Walton Arts center, Arts live theater, Theater Squared, Arts center of the ozarks in Springdale. Arts center of the Ozarks is a great and affordable place for kids to take drama classes. They offer 6 week of classes (usually ending with a performance) for as little as 45$.

Theatre in Fayetteville does exist even for kids!!!
There is an awesome program called Arts live that teaches children and adults the art of the theatre. I can't recall the age they start working with children and there is a limited number of children allowed in due to the number of teachers the program has. My daughter wanted to take the classes, but they conflict with her dance classes.
They do also offer assistance with the fee if anyone needs that
You just have to let them know ahead of time that you will need assistance and they will help you apply.
