(I originally posted this in the main forum and somebody suggested posting it here--I can't figure out how to delete the other one)

Hey all!
I posted a thread a few months ago about Eureka Springs relocation--thanks to all who replied! I'm not wondering about Berryville, which seems to be the closest place for jobs. I'm wondering what this town is like: is it kind of Eureka Springs like in feel, or is it a more "traditional" Arkansas town? I can't really find much information about it at all, so I figured I'd try here

Thanks!

I've never been to Berryville, but I'm pretty sure it's a traditional Arkansas/Ozark town. Eureka Springs is very unique in its settling, architecture, and history. I believe Eureka Springs is unique culturally as well. I'm not terribly familiar, but I think it would be described along the lines of eccentric, upscale, probably liberal, etc. I'm guessing Berryville is a culturally traditional community for that area.

Berryville will be more traditional Arkansas, just like most smaller towns in AR. I don't know how what information you are looking for, but I am sure others will be able to help you. The concern I have would be for jobs. What type of employment would you be looking for? It isn't a very large town so I don't know why people would suggest it for employment.

Maybe because of the industrial park they are advertising on their website

that could be: I guess it has a lot to do with the type of work the OP is interested in.

Berryville is a nice town. It is totally different from ES though. Its a relaxed town with a good police force and there are jobs in town. Like another poster said that it depends on what kind of work your looking for. A lot of nursing jobs, people generally commute to Branson, Harrison or Fayettville. I am disappointed in the lack of homes for sale that are actually worth what the sellers are valuing them at. In Eureka the are towards Clifty is very nice to me. I mean you can live close to ES and drive to Rogers/Fayettville area for work, easily. I have lived in transient towns and didn't like them much. ES is very slightly transient. Berryville is not so much. We are actually trying to move back to BV from a slightly bigger town because of these things : Berryville is pretty central to where we love to go. Tulsa, Fayettville, Springfield, and our fav lakes (Table Rock and Beaver) and our fav rivers (Kings and Buffalo)...

interesting how we all have different ideas about a place and have all kinds of advise. Too bad the OP has never been back or responded. I wonder if he/she ever thought about the move after reading what we all posted?

Berryville and eureka springs are different for sure. I like both for different reasons. Berryville is small town Arkansas. Eureka springs is a Liberal oasis surrounded by conservatism. There are more transplants in es and not so many in bv. Love the architecture of es. At one point it was the largest city in Arkansas behind little rock. That is why there are so many old historic buildings there now.

Imbored: thanks for the info on ES. I had no idea it was once the second largest city in AR. We learn new things everyday. I have only been there a couple of times, but I think the city is about as quaint and interesting as any I have ever visited. I know I would not want to live there, I am way to conservative, yet everyone should take time to check it out. For many here, it is heaven.

Ha ha....yes nita, some of us would actually describe it in the opposite way from how imbored did ("a Liberal oasis surrounded by conservatism"). Some of us would describe it as a liberal....well, I'll be tactful and let everyone supply their own descriptive word....surrounded by an oasis of conservatism.

It is a unique and beautiful place though, and I like to go there.
