Marshall Islanders in NW Arkansas (Springdale: living, Filipino, population)

I scanned this article on The New Republic's website. I had no idea this community existed in NW Arkansas.

Springdale has the largest population of Marshallese outside of the Marshal Islands.

After 2 years of living here I think I may have only seen Marchallese once or twice. I recall reading about the job situation of the Marshal Islands a few years ago.

The islands are also threatened to be completely flooded due to global warming.

I don't know if I have seen any, but we don't get to Springdale too often, only when I need to make a run to the Asian market.

They look like Pacific Islanders. Very family oriented, don't need a passport to come here because of a treaty between the U.S. and Marshal Islands.

Dark hair, dusky skin, brown eyes....just like another ethnic group that has a strong presence in Springdale.

I did not even know these people existed until I moved here. Seen tons. Of course, I am not an ethnically diverse person. Black, White, Hispanic, Filipino are about the only societies I know the ins and outs of, more or less.
