I'm considering a move to the area (grad school) within the next year. If I'm going to be working in a restaurant, is Fayetteville worth it?

I have a great resume and will likely have my first level sommelier by the time I relocate. What kind of options are there in the area for that? How is the money there?

Thanks!

Fayetteville and the surrounding metro were recently ranked by Forbes #3 in job growth.

US News and World Report ranked us #3 in "Best Places to Live" behind Austin and Denver, and #1 in most affordable among the 100 "Best Places to Live", meaning wages are good and cost of living is low. It's better here than most places. Unemployment is below 3%. You won't find it better anywhere else.

since only the higher end restaurants have sommaliers on hand, I would follow the money and look in Bentonville.

Fayetteville has Ellas, Greenhouse cafe and James at the mill (not fayetteville) that I can think of off the top of my head.

I would say there's alot more disposable income in the Bentonville area as well as more high end restaurants.

only have one problem with this: I wonder why they rate Austin so high? It does have the university and a couple cool places to visit but I am not sure what the draw for living there would be? Oh, well, no one asked me.

I agree. Hot, congested, expensive, high taxes, impending water shortage; Austin and environs are nothing like they used to be.
