I live in NE Oklahoma and work in NWA and I think it is a beautiful place, but the problem I have is the drivers there. They speed, they don't use turn signals, they are selfish, they cut you off, they won'y yield, they gesture at you if they feel you have invaded their space. C'mon, lighten up people it is not LA.

I agree Sandy, more than a few drive like they are on a mission to **** off everyone else on the road. Tailgating and running red lights can be added to your list. The police do not enforce the overly-aggressive driving laws.

The best one can do around here is drive with extra space and caution, don't give the rudest ones the satisfaction of acknowledging their gestures (smile and give 'em a childish wave, that really get their goat).

My commute is short and straight and for the most part full of nice drivers, the ones who safely allow you to turn onto the busy highway by making a big enough gap for you to make your entrance and realize that we are all on the road together.

Keep the shiny side up!

I-540 is ridiculous ... drivers tend to be very aggressive during the peak travel periods and I notice the things you mention every day. I wouldn’t be surprised if I-540 between Fayetteville and Bentonville is statistically the deadliest stretch of highway in the state of Arkansas - been many deaths over the last 5 years.

This is interesting. I am from South Dakota and my biggest frustration isn't the rudeness, rather the lolly gag attitude about the passing lane on the interstate. Folks...that lane, is an ACTIVE passing lane, not a lane to hang out in. I encourage you to move over, let people pass, and then move back. LOL

There are times on I-540 that the left lane is bumper to bumper - literally cars about one car length apart - going 75-85mph and the right lane will have large gaps with no traffic. Problem is, nobody wants to get in the right lane because of merging traffic at the on-ramps slows the right lane and then it's almost impossible to merge back into the left lane.

It's one thing to drive on the Jersey Turnpike with drivers that are going 80-85mph and just kinda 'goin with the flow' versus a bunch o' crazies weaving and bobbing on I-540 just trying to get ahead of the car in front of them.

If this bothers you so much, please to not try driving in Texas. I am sure, in order to pass the driving test there, the kids are taught turn signals are for foreign drivers only, cutting in and out is a game played just like fantasy football, and anyone going less than 10 miles over the speed limit should be removed from the road. AS for the referance to LA< as much as you wouldn't get me to drive anywhere in So Calif, I think they are good drivers, they just think 110 miles an hour is acceptable even on surface streets.

Believe me, after living many years in L.A. like you have, you will find NWA a dream for driving.
