"Beach at Lake Avalon hours through Labor Day
The Beach at Lake Avalon will be open daily through August 24.
Weekday hours are 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Weekend hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

After August 24, the Beach will be open only on weekends through Labor Day:
August 29 & 30, September 5, 6 and Labor Day

After Labor Day the Beach will be closed for the season."

As a possible future resident I signed up for updates from the B.Vista POA. I wonder if someone could enlighten me. What happens if I jump in the lake a week after Labor Day when temperatures are in the high eighties in the middle of the day? Do I get a citation, a police escort home, or arrested and fined?

I remember being dirt poor in Phoenix, AZ, with the public pool nearby my only refuge on Sundays. Then they closed all pools on September 1st "for the winter". It was 92 in the morning and I decided to leave that state. 7 months later I arrived in San Diego and didn't miss a single thing about my one-year sentence in Phoenix.

Memorial Day to Labor Day is the typical season for any public pool or swimming hole in most parts of the country where you can't grow oranges.
By early-mid-October, most people aren't going to want to jump in an outdoor body of water in that area anyway.

The POA “lake patrol” (it’s a real thing) will catch you and turn you in. The POA will then confer with the ACC who will then confer with Cooper, who will then confer with the City of Bella Vista as to what rules you may have broken. And if you failed to secure the appropriate permits (there would be many), the POA would hold you in contempt and lock your water meter until you paid the appropriate fines.

Thanks for taking the time writing back. What if I take my fishing boat out and jump in the water? I'm aware of the necessary permits for boating and that would be in order, paid for the year, obviously.

The lake patrol will check your POA card, but otherwise you should be safe to swim off your boat any time!!

Thanks, VCVS. I'll sleep better tonight. I owe you another beer now.

By the way, our power went out tonight around 6:52 PM. We are on a generator now. California suffers from rotating outages due to high demand and short supply. Don't rush to get that electric car just yet if you plan to move here. And this is the state where the government wants to gradually eliminate natural gas to save the environment.

This is from PG&E:

Rotating Power Outages Could Happen Saturday Night from 5:00 to 10:00 PM

California Grid Operator Monitoring Statewide Energy Usage, Coordinating with PG&E and the State’s Other Electric Utilities

Based on current power usage forecasts from the state’s electric grid operator, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), PG&E may be required to conduct rotating power outages Saturday night between 5:00 and 10:00 PM. A final decision by CAISO will be made later today.

We have over 30 fires in our Butte County alone. There comes a point when we stop counting unless they are 5-6 miles from here. I appreciate your concern. If it wouldn't be for the virus we'd be probably in Bella Vista by now.
