Frankly, having statues to a group of people that sought to tear this nation apart seems strange to me. Especially since a huge defining reason for the war in the first place was slavery. That may not be the only reason, but if secessionist documents are to be believed then it was definitely a huge reason. Only 4 states broke down a declaration of causes, but those that did all mentioned it.

That doesnt mean every person who fought for the Confederacy was bad, but they shouldnt have statues. The comparison to American heroes is a bad one. Granted, there are some morons that want to tear down statues of Grant, Lincoln, Washington, etc, but almost all liberals are against that.
As the University of Wisconsin voted to remove their stautue of Lincoln from the grounds, I cry BS on your last sentence. They are all liberals looking to tear down the history of this country. 100% leftist liberals.

The ‘extreme’ liberals want to erase all traces of American history in an attempt to destroy traditionalism. That’s the unspoken agenda.

It seems that Judge AASB's standard has now included his leftist liberal brothers in Portland and Wisconsin. By his own words, he declares them MORONS. I call them rabid dogs that need to be dealt with.

Wanna bet that you won't hear a peep outta the Biden/Harris camp about any of this activity. I don't beleive AASB's quote because actions speak louder than words. Harris/Biden stand for anarchy until they get their way as do a growing majority of leftist liberals.

It's not so much the Blacks that some are referring to, it is a mixture of ethnic groups that make up the liberal/progressive base. Most Blacks couldn't care less about statures, monuments etc, they are hard-working family types that go to work just like everyone else and want to be left alone like us.
Universities, Democrats, schools etc have indoctrinated our youth since the sixties and the lousy professors have not taught subjects but their personal feelings of promoting social unrest, socialism, communism etc.
A lot of organizations, manufacturers, Hollywood "intellectuals" who "obviously know more than we do" have jumped on the bandwagon to promote this inequality that permeates our society.
It is a small faction that marched and looted in our streets Whites, Blacks and who knows who else did all the damage. The majority of us were working and trying to pay the bills, so don't immediately jump on the race agenda-that is exactly what they want and then politicians will pass new restrictive laws that we don't need. It too shall come to pass....

I am 89 and never have given any thought one way or other about historical statues, have always thought about the beauty.
Kind of sad what stupidity Biden,Bernie,AOC and her radical Muslims have done to this country.

Knowledge American history comes from the study of written accounts of events collaborated by witnesses to events. People dont live forever, but written texts live on.

A plaque commemorating a good person is normal. Commemorations of people who were enemies is ridiculous. How about we put up memorials to Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Amin, Mao and other terrorists who wanted as much as they could get.?

I'm certainly not an expert and the topic has probably been examined to death (like a horse) many times over. Above are 3 different views on the topic.
Anyway, I think the statues have a place among the everyday public areas of the people- places they will readily be seen... maybe someone will become curious, and learn some history... but if not, then I tend to agree with the suggestion of museums and graveyards and battlefield parks.
