Really?

Then, what happened, slick?

Did California run it into banruptcy?

I have a friend in N California and he is having the typical problems that most people in CA are having. I am not sure how much longer he wil be able to keep his house, maybe a month or two. he is having a realy tough time. I told him about this this thread regarding to moving to Arkansas. He stopped talking to me. lol

He seriously refuses to leave California, he said he will probably file for bankruptcy and then rent some place. I feel bad for him, he owes a lot on his house, but it used to be worth ( just a guesstimate) maybe arounf 800k and now 400k and dropping. he will leave with nothing if they foreclose on the house. he isn't really working but he does landscaping, he can do that anywhere!

He should look into moving to a state where it's a little cheaper to live, he also wouldn't consider Texas either.

Don't blame him regarding TX but he should listen to the rest!

Sometimes "nothing" can be quite liberating.

I agree about Texas, I moved there from Colorado. Cheap housing, lots of jobs. But we're moving back to Colorado because Texas is just... Texas. it's not for us.

In his case, he has a family, yet he chooses to live in one of the most expensive parts of the country. If I had nothing, I don't think that's where I would live. He jokes about living in his camper soon. Seriously he needs to think of the kid at least.

and that's what killed California, folks got loans they could'nt afford...What's it matter if the price of the house goes up or down as long as your monthly payment stays the same.............

I just came across this post as well as the post about Californians relocating to Bella Vista. I am relocating to Bentonville, possibly Bella Vista, as a Walmart vendor. I also love the wine country around Ozark & Altus. That has untapped potential, and is great wine growing soil. I guess I'll be one of "those Californians" amongst the good folks of NWA. I love Arkansas.

Once you're settled in NWA, take a couple of days to check out Hermann, MO. It's in what is called the Missouri Rheinland. I think you'll find it interesting.
