Do not get the Whipple Surgery if you get pancreatic cancer. You better get revolutionary treatment, or go to a medicine man in the Amazon River Basin, or maybe the Congo.

On that note, I toured UAMS's new Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Expansion today. The new wing is stunning- definitely one of the most welcoming environments I've seen in any sort of clinical setting. I know they're hoping to use the facility and their reputation in multiple myeloma treatment to continue to expand their research and treatment options into additional areas of expertise. If you're ever in Little Rock, check out the new facility. (Also, check out the new UAMS main hospital. Their patient rooms, which I was also able to see today, are nicer than the hotel I was at last night, although I'd rather not be in them unless necessary, of course.)

Now if I get pancreatic cancer tomorrow, I might want to be treated at MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, or Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for a doctor whom specializes in pancreatic cancer.
of course. You are right, no one is going to claim the very best medical facilities and doctors are right here in AR. But, yes, we do have good ones. Both Mercy and NW hospitals are indications of how the medical profession views the future on the area.

ps: I read the comment about pancreatic cancer. from Marmac. I am assuming you were giving the example of pancreatic cancer as just that, an example.

Maybe dear friends...they'll do just like most of us transplants have done. Maybe they will blend in, contribute to their community, pay taxes, help the economy, be grateful to be in an area that isn't sucking the blood and life out of them. Maybe they will make friends with you and I....I mean, what's the problem?

It isn't just 2 buck chuck we love, but the other special items they sell plus they have a wine called Raymond Hill, comes in 1.5 liter bottles and is really yummy.

What I miss from Trader Joes, and have a box of a friend bought for me waiting for me to send the money to ship it, is the Cederwood and Sage multipurpose cleaner. Nothing like it anywhere. Couldn't they build One measley Trader Joes in Stillwater, college town, people from elsewhere where there are Trader Joes come there all the time? Or at least sell the non produce stuff they have online? Please pretty please?

Gotta disagree there, at least in terms of my new home. The care I got in my week long stay in the hospital last year was far superior than the rushed and snotty care I got in socal before. I did not once think of how I'd love to file a complaint this time. Socal has much stuff, but when you have too many people you tend to lose the personal connection and that is what is so beautiful about here.

Default What is attracting California and west coast folks to Northwest Arkansas?

Do we get points for having settled in SW MO instead of NW AR since we're origin ally from CA?

I just saw a movie called "Winter's Bone"? The movie was filmed around Branson. The movie is very uplifting and show the Ozark Mountains area is America's best kept secret.
