I was reading about the history of BV and noticed a sentence that said by the late 20s there were about 375 cottages built. Are any of them still there? Someone already mentioned the little trailers that are still there. I'd like to see that!

I believe I found the trailers while I was there last time, and I wasn't much impressed. But then again trailers no matter what age don't impress me much.

I think as you enter Bella Vista from Bentonville, look to the left and there are a row of houses that are nestled into the hillside. They are fairly dilapidated, but they might possibly date back to the 20's. The smokehouse restaurant on the right as you enter Bella Vista has some history to it as well. The cottages were probably associated with church bible camps that were plentiful in the area, so if you want to do research to identify specific sites, that might be one route to go.

Hi...I stumbled onto this forum when I saw something about Bella Vista. The houses that you're talking about that are nestled into the hillside.....my grandparents lived in one of those houses for many years...and I believe my cousin bought the house when my grandparents died....she might even live there, don't know. I don't know that they are historic....probably just old. I don't think they are the cottages that the OP mentioned. Bella Vista used to be used to be very quaint and countrylike, with homes nestled in the woods. Haven't been there in a long time but last time I was there it looked as if the developers were taking over.

The Wonderland Cave was the largest underground nightclub in the world prior to Prohibition. I've heard rumors of investors reopening cave. I believe owner lives in Malibu, Cali.

I hope they do reopen the cave....my son has seen all the rest and was wanting more!

I wonder if the owner is the same person who bought Diamond Cave a few years back....I'm thinking someone told me that person was from California, also.

I visited the cave today and it is a total mess...graphity everwhere..trash inside.Has been neglected for many many years. Sad to see it in such shape..did not go in but looked through opening in side of building. Hard to beleive it look so beautiful in the 30's or 40's.

Hopefully someone will decide to refurbish it and bring it back to the days that were.
