Anyone have any suggestions????
Just south of Fayetteville is West Fork, Arkansas - a small community that is a slower pace, more rural lifestyle than Fayetteville, yet within a few minutes (8 miles I believe) of the city limits of Fay.

West Fork has a mix of farms, artists, hippies, and hard working folks with a neat little place on the river and good school system for your kids.

I never knew of West Fork, it sounds like something that would meet her needs. By the way, I don't think she has any kids, at least I never saw any mentioned.

I read 'large family' and overlooked the word 'furry'.

Ty for the heads up on West Fork ... will check it out.

No human children - just furry ones and while obedience school would be a fun activity for the kids there are too many and all have done well with "home schooling"!

I called ATT and they were less than helpful ... if you have an address they can check that but no info available regarding general areas and no info on plans to expand the dsl coverage. The word I got was no dsl outside city limits.

I would appreciate a map of areas covered by DSL or cable internet but no such animal exists that I can find. It would be nice if phone companies and/or cable companies would post to a website maps of covered areas.

It would be nice to shop based on the internet criteria - in other words eliminate anything not covered. WOuld save lots of calls to local phone companies and real estate agents (who are for some reason less than helpful).

I am looking in VA as well as they seem to have more internet coverage although Eureka Springs would still be my first choice I think.

TY all for such thoughtful replies - much appreciated!

CenturyTel does much of AR phone coverage. They just called me and offered me DSL, which was a shock since I am a *long* ways from a telephone switching station.

According to the caller, changes have been made to the infrastructure to allow them to offer DSL rurally.

Sweet deal if I wasn't in love with my wireless.

Why don't you use a cheap wireless router with AT&T's DSL? I have done it in the past and you would be surprised how far away you can be from the Access Point and still get reception.

There's not a router in the world that can reach the places I go.

I'll set in the car and do my e-mails while the wife is shopping.

When we have to go to Little Rock, she'll drive while I check what's happening in town.

I have neighbors that can't even spell internet, and if they need to order something online, I'll drive down and take care of it on the laptop.

If it wasn't for things like that, Hannu, I would get a router, put an external antenna on the tower, and go to it.

Once you get the taste of being un-tethered, it's hard to even think about going back.

I'm glad you didn't mention access to the 'out-house'!
I presume that you are on 3G so.
