I am considering moving to Bentonville. I am a single mother (my son is twelve). We visited there last summer and really enjoyed the area. We are looking for a LITTLE 2 bedroom apartment. I have been on rent.com and apartmentguide.com looking at apartments, but my biggest question right now is the utility bills. I am from NW Pennsylvania. We have electric ($80/mo), gas ($130/mo), water/sewage ($110/mo) and cable/internet ($110/mo). How do the utilties in this area compare?

Thanks for the expected info...

I'm not 100% sure but I would say altogether it is around what you were paying in PA. In the summers elec will be more and gas will be less, in the winters gas will be more and elec will be less. If you live in an apartment the cost per month should be alot cheaper than your PA costs. Its hard to peg a number on it because every house and every family is different. Actually, your gas is probably alot higher right now because its going to get warmer here faster than in PA.

@newcheercoach--why not contact one of the apartment complexes you're interested in and ask them what average utilities run?

In the one-bedroom apartment building I manage in Fayetteville, water/sewer/trash pickup runs around $35-40/month; electric- $40-60/month; cable/internet-$100/month. The tenants all have cell phones.

Thank you so much OurGreatEscape! Honestly I didn't think of the idea of calling the apartment complexes. So simple and easy. Sometimes people (me being one of them) make things more difficult than they really are. I appreciate your breaking it down for me. That is exactly what I needed.

You're very welcome And, credit for the idea to call the apartments must be given to one of my tenants. I'd never thought about it either until I had a prospective tenant ask about a year or two ago.

Now when someone inquires, I list the rent, security deposit, and approximate utilities' costs.
