Finally finished this one. It's 16"x20", oil on canvas. Hope yall like.

Small Town Winter Landscape
A couple on their sleigh ride home (perhads from visiting freinds or just a ride in the country), as late evening settles on the small town. Cardinals on a holly tree, a rabbit and squirrel look down from a wooded hill. Farms and mountains in the distance.

if you are in New York, you can see two of my paintings at the Jeffrey Leder Gallery. I am one one the artists chosen for a group show-my first.

Thank you Lamplight and Raena77.

And Thank you as well Ron.

Hello Clark Park, winter scenes are a real challenge for me. Too much snow and sameness. Thanks for the nice comments.

Walt, I really like your work, but could you explain why you have the creepy tree in the foreground. I mean you have this lovely, cozy scene and off stage left is the tree from the cemetery horror movie. I am more a visual person than a concept person and from a visual standpoint, it doesn't really work. What am I missing from a concept standpoint that causes you to put this humanoid zombie tree in there?

Love the color of the sky, love birds, love the whole composition - it should be turned into Christmas postcard)))

Hi Wilson, I put the tree where it is , so as to balance the painting. I think it adds interest and reality because it is not the tipical handsome tree, but has a character of is own. Also I also don't want it to be too sugary. I hope my explination is exceptable.

What a great comment Erasure, thanks.

I can see the need for balance. I looked at the other photo that crops the tree and I see what you mean. Still like your style. Who would you say most influences your work? Hockney maybe?
