Dali is probably one of my favorite artists. Although seeing The Persistence of Time in a high school textbook is what drew me to him, I'm actually not too fond of it. I find the range of his work quite interesting.

Favorite: The City of Drawers

Runners-Up:

Galatea of the Spheres

Ballerina in Death's Head

The Face of War

The Ship

Anything by Edward Hopper is OK with me, but this one, which graced all the directories issued by New York Telephone back around 1970, tops the list.

Hopper's sense of the "un-depicted" -- what might be going on behind those windows -- is what cinches it for me. The closest parallel I can draw is the night "light-painted" photos of steam-powered trains passing small scenes from daily life in Virginia and West Virginia in the late 1950's, by the late O. Winston Link.

Several Northwest artists, most notably Paul Horiuchi. Also Bill Ivey, Patty Warashina and Sherry Markovitz.

My favourite painting would be "Judith und Holofernes" by Gustav Klimt.
