10 gal tank...I'd do freshwater,

and as far as fish goes, neon tetras, guppies or maybe the glofish.

Yeah...now I have a problem.
Water is great.
Zero ammonia, zero nitrites, practically zero nitrates...heater in, thermometer in, water crystal clear, fish seem happy and playful (I went with glofish).

Was at the pet store and noticed they had these signs everywhere...about a remodel. And they were basically giving their fish away. Like 75% off...I asked, "What happens to the fish that don't get sold by Monday?" He hemmed and hawed and then said something about 'transferring them' somewhere.

I was like, "Yeah...you are going to spend the time and money to 'transfer' a fish you are basically giving to me for free...suuuuure." So then I had to take this one little lonely neon tetra sitting there by himself in one of the tanks (I think there were a couple of guppies in there, too). I couldn't just abandon him...

But now I have ONE neon and NO MORE ROOM in my tank. Since it's fully cycled and has great parameters, I don't worry about his health from a toxic standpoint, but I worry about his psyche...

Turns out I don't know anyone else with a freshwater aquarium.

craigslist is your freind, you could also do a search online for fishkeeping clubs in your area

or you could do the ONLY logical thing (least in my house) buy anther fishtank and get him some buddies LOL!

im only kinda sort joking...theres only 2 reasons i dont have a bajilion gallons...electric bill and room...lol.
but a nice 10-20long gallon with black sand substrate a black background some beautiful plants (real or not) a group of shrimp and a healthy school of neons looks absoluty STUNNING.
neon and cardinal tetras have to be my absolute favorite of the schoolers!
