It's funny how you don't recommend going to CL but instead, fish forum. Guess where lots of people who belong to fish forum get their used stuff? Join a forum, get some advice and some of them will be about used tanks from craigslist.

The reason I recommend the forums, (I'm thinking of one that I go to a lot), is because you have the opportunity to talk to people for quite awhile before you ever buy anything from anyone. You will find out, quickly, who knows what they are doing, and who doesn't. When someone with a better reputation on that forum decides to sell a tank, I would feel a lot more secure about it than some random family on Craigslist who bought a tank for their kids, no one knew what they were doing, and who knows what has gone in to that tank.
