where to put fish tank (kind, light, fishtank, often)

I have an aquarium with fish in it. However, there does not seem to be any great place to PUT the fishtank. What height should it be at, looking down in to tank or straight ahead. Has to be out of the way to not knock into, but some where where you can see the fish. Fish tanks are huge, and it just seems like I don't have a great place for it. The other thing is that they are dirty, the water, calcium deposit, regular cleaning with gunk every where, tubes sticking out, etc, so I don't want it to look like junk in a room. Any creative ideas? I'd like to keep the fish tank, but it is kind of an eye sore.

If you look at tank stands, that should give you an idea of placement. Where do you have it now? How many gallons is it?

If you have the space, I'd go for a nice stand - most pet and aquarium stores have a decent selection of stands that will allow you to keep a lot of the "clutter" hidden, and the tank at a nice height allowing you to see the fish.

Keep it away from a window, for sure. Sunlight will encourage algae growth and may also cause unwanted fluctuations in temperature.

I have a 90gal fish tank in my foyer by the front door. It's actually the first thing you see when you come through the front door. My tank is set up so that very little work is need. I top it of very week and change the water and do plants clipping every few months. The key is to keep it balance. I grow a lot of low/med lights plants.

Keep it away from window, sunlight will promote a lot more algae and require cleaning more often.mine is at about the same height as the kitchen counters, easy to reach for feeding and cleaning, and 10’ from the nearest window.
