I love aquariums. I am thinking of getting one for Christmas. I like to have fantail guppies, black mollies, neons, some bottom feeders like catfish.

Default Here is a few of my tanks

I am only interested in Discus, king of the fresh water fish.

Some of these are my breeding stock. They do require a lot of work, as much if not more than having a pet dog.

I sort of want to get rid of all my mollies and have JUST tetras. I love it when there is a big school of tetras, but it is so hard to spend $3-$4 for just one at the pet store.. that is so expensive for such a little guy!!

Since these pictures, I've set up a whole new tank (same fish). The Silver Dollar I have had for about 4 years. I have a HUGE catfish and I'm not sure what the other two pictured are. These fish have all been together over a year. When I try to introduce other fish (especially ones with bright colors) they just disappear -- No bones, no nothing. Its really creepy. I'm thinking my catfish is the culprit. I've decided to leave well enough alone and not bring any more innocent fishies home.

My new tank was a CraigsList deal. Large Hexagon with matching cabinet and hood. Got a great price on it and it was exactly what I had been wanting but couldn't afford before.

Default Platys

I have a female and male platy, and I think the female may be about to get pregnant. How do I know if she is pregnant.

look for pet smart sales. They have assorted tetras that they sell for a dollar each when they are on sale.

I have seen these tetras for 1 dollar

Cardinal
Serpae
Neon
Bloodfin

and some others

I used to live in San Antonio. There was a neighborhood fish store that would sell tetras for 3 for a buck fifty or 5 for 2 bucks.

I am kicking myself for not buying more while I was there. I am thinking of going back sometime and stocking up. none of my fish died in the move ( I bought portable aerators) even though they were in the Uhaul for 2 days

also remember that while tetra are beautiful, many are not suited to most fish keepers, neons and cardinals are very delicate, serpea (and most of the larger tetra) are fin nippers

My serpaes are well behaved.
I have them with bleeding hearts, angels, cory's and a few other Amazon fish.

I heard that serpaes are supposed to be nasty lil buggers, but mine are well behaved.
