He's a Halloween Moon Crab. A friend of ours had some and I just couldn't resist a baby. He's the size of a quarter w/ legs.

I come back just to look at his picture - he makes me chuckle.

You have to love crabs... they always give me the impression that they know something I don't and are in a great hurry to be getting on with it.

Wow oh wow, never thought i would say this, but the little fellow is cute. Did not know they could be this cute looking. Freddy is a cutie, and how long do these guys live. What do they eat and where do they come from. Have to agree that freddie is a cutie indeed!

aHi again,
Didn't mean to post and not return. I'm having a blast w/ these little guys. This crab originates from Costa Rica. After reading they do better in pairs, I got another one for Freddy, Jason. In researching, I am finding they live 8 to 10 years in captivity, which seems pretty long to me. They range in size from 2 to 2.5 inches in length. Mine are doing great! They're eating a variety of greens and love apple. I also offer them both fresh and saltwater.

ETA: I forgot to mention shedding. Their shell stays dark. Only their legs change in color from orange to light orange. They can lose a leg and it will grow back.
