Hello all,
I currently have a corn snake and a Ball python. I recently aquired a good 55 gallon fish tank that holds water. I was wondering if any of you on here had ever kept any type of water snakes as pets. I have found a place that sells northern water snakes. I figured a good 1/2 land 1/2 water set up with a basking sight would work ok for a water snake. Has anyone on here ever kept any sort of water snake as a pet and how are they handling wise compared to other pet snakes?

I don't know much about water snakes (I keep pythons & colubrids), but they seem rather "flighty" when I've handled them... some of them are neat looking, though! Have you considered using it for another herp, like turtles or frogs?

Water snakes, if kept in the fish tank, should be kept in a clean and dry set-up just as other snakes would be kept.
If you attempt to cage them as you stated then they will soon get blistered skin and die of infection.
Yes, I have had water snakes before. They bite.
