Hi everyone. I've accepted a job offer, so I'm now moving from New Orleans to Flagstaff at the end of April/beginning of May. I've searched on here for Flagstaff apartments and have yet to find anything recent pertaining to Flagstaff. Everything I find is about Phoenix or about buying a home. Does anyone have any recommendations? My rent range is approx. $500-$900 for a studio or 1-bedroom. I'll of course visit before I sign anything, but I'd like to make a list beforehand. I'm looking for something that's not a total dump. Working appliances, not infested w/ bugs, and some utilities would be a plus. I'm limited on money right now, so I have one shot at moving and would like to get it right the first time. I'll be working near the airport if that helps with location.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Congrats on your new job! You will find that Flagstaff is kind of two towns in one. NAU and downtown are in west Flag, while east Flag consists of the mall, car dealerships, and a smelly Purina plant. If you live in an apartment complex on the west side of town, you are likely going to have college students living next to you. In most cases, that isn't an issue, but you could easily end up living next to people who have loud parties every weekend. Moderator cut: no recommendations from new members

I could never live in east Flag due to the constant smell of pet food. While looking at apartments, don't worry too much about being close to the train tracks. All of train horns have been silenced, so you can open your window at night in the summer and not have to hear a train horn every 15 minutes. I don't know that you will find too many apartments infested with bugs--at least not like what you could find in New Orleans. The cold air and lack of standing water takes care of most bugs here in northern Arizona. In fact, on average, 60% of the year sees temperatures fall below freezing!

When you come to visit Flagstaff, look for apartment guides at local restaurants. Most places have them right as you walk in the door.
