I went there a long time ago while visiting Sedona and it was in a relative "boom" phase...lots of shops and bars...and people. The last time I went a couple of summers ago, it was dead. Businesses had closed up. Not many visitors. (Sedona was packed with people - more than I would have cared for...and still bummed out about things like an outlet mall at the foot of Bell Rock )...anyway - is Jerome rebounding at all? Is it doomed? I hope not.

Jerome seems to get along. They have unique people living there.
It seems to depend quite a bit on tourism also.
The economy has hit tourists hard as with many other things.

Jerome still has a bunch of small shops, art galleries and some good places to eat.

I was there back in early May (just a couple of hours as a tourist) and I thought it was moderately prosperous, people going in and out of the cafes and galleries. Certainly not a ghost town, though that's its reputation. We thought it was OK for a visit, and not high-pressure tackiness with nowhere to park.

Sedona, pah, more redlights than red rocks.

I'd say Jerome is doing fine. I live near by and often pass through there on my way to Prescott or Perkinsville Rd. Weekends are pretty busy, esp Fri and Sat night. Mornings and weeknights, not so much. It is touristy, but I prefer it over Sedona.

Good thing- new barbecue restaurant with microbrews.

Not so good- for some reason the coffee shop always closes about the time I want to get coffee.

Don't worry, you're not missing much as the people who took it over are NOWHERE near as nice as the ones who owned it before. It's not kept as clean and staff is unfriendly . I'm rather sad about that as I loved it!

To the OP, I'd say Jerome is doing fine!

If this weekend is any indication of Jerome's draw, I'd say it's alive and well. This weekend was my first visit there. Really cool place.

Default re: Jerome

I was there earlier this summer... Ate some excellent food at a new restaurant... there were quite a few people roaming the streets and seemed to be plenty of shops open for business!

Is there more than one way into Jerome? I was there several years ago and the road I took was extremely steep, curvy, and narrow. So much that I freaked out and had to stop the car as I was paralyzed with fear and my mom took over driving, but we only went to the nearest spot big enough to turn around and went back down. I still want to see the town, but I never want to drive that road again!
