I've been a member on here a fairly long time, and have lived in Sacramento, CA metro area for 25 years. I recently had my first visit to Arizona, traveling through Phoenix and up to Sedona. There were a lot of things that I loved about Az that I don't get to see in Northern Ca and it was a nice change and wish I had more time to explore. Things that I really liked on the trip:
The freeway system actually works and seems to be built out fairly well (or at least seems to). If you've ever been to Sacramento you'll know that our freeway system has long stood unfinished and traffic is pretty heavy during many hours of the day. And when it's not rush hour there's still a lot of cars on the road.
The higher elevation plateaus are not something you find in Cali and were very scenic, bet there is a lot of great hiking to be done off of I-17.
What can I say about Sedona that hasn't already been said? I tried to not be touristy since I was just there to attend a wedding but wow what a beautiful place.
Overall I enjoyed the trip very much and look forward to my next visit hopefully soon.
