Hello, semi-retired, late 40s. Looking at getting into a condo since they are SO cheap in Fl right now. I currently live in Michigan and would use the condo 3-4 months in winter, couple weeks other times. I live in a town of 28000 right now.
The past 3 yrs, I have stayed in Debary/Sanford in RV park for 3 mos in winter.

Any comments or thoughts on Lakewood Park condo units? Oasis at pearl Lake? How about Waterside at Cranes roost?

Safest parts of Altamonte Springs? East/West of I4? North/south of 436?
Best "quarter" of this area you would suggest? I am planning on going down in Sept for a week to look at some condos and check out the area during 24/7 times.

I am looking at a 1 BR. 600-700 SF condo. I see many in the 25-30k range.

thoughts?!? thanks!

Waterside at Crane's Roost is a great location, very convenient to shopping, etc. but in a traffic congested area. The upside is it is very walkable and you don't have to drive anywhere for basic services. It's one of the few areas in Central Florida where that is possible. Oasis at Pearl Lake is on the west side of Altamonte in an area with a mixed demographic that you may not find appealing. It's also not walk-friendly to many amenities. Lakewood Park in my mind would be your best fit. Close to the same amenities convenient to Crane's Roost but in a location away from the congestion (several blocks south) in more of a quiet-suburban setting.

The safest areas of Altamonte Springs tend to be east of I-4 and north of 436, though the areas just south of 436 between I-4 and Palm Springs Drive (north of Lake Orienta)are pretty much equivalent to the areas on the north side.

I am in accordance with the previous post[er]. I live in and absolutely feel safe in the area mentioned, Plus, I tend to walk a lot all over during late evening hours. including Cranes Roost Park, without any issues. There are numerous side streets, thank goodness, leading to some of the addresses branching off 436; I travel these during peak traffic hours instead of using congested 436. Cranes Roost is a neat concept.
