I live downstate New York and have an Individual HMO plan that I self pay monthly. The premium is steep and there are few providers in NY.
From what I saw on the Humana website, for instance, the premiums seem considerably less with all sorts of various options.
Am I missing something here about the lower cost? What is the Board's opinions on which insurer is best to go with?

It is probably due to the COL and wages in FL are cheaper than NY.
