I find it interesting that most Floridians are looking to move to TN. I know a lot of people from TN are getting upset about the huge numbers of Floridians moving in, just like Floridians getting mad at all the New Yorkers.

Default ny to fla to tn

yeah, a lot of floridians are moving to tn/nc/sc, but many of those "floridians" are originally from ny anyway. they call them "halfbacks" or some such thing. so even though they are moving there from fla, you'll find that many of them are ny'ers trying to find the next fla, which right now seems to be states like nc/tn/arizona...etc... they are cashing out in fla and buying cheap in tn/sc/nc now, just like they left ny 10 yrs ago to buy cheap here in fla. fla is no longer cheap, so ppl move to "the next best thing" for the moment.

"Most Floridians are looking to move to TN"??

I would challenge THAT statistic. That would mean that over 50%, or approximately 9 million Floridians are moving to Tennessee. Not by a long shot.

I think part of what is going on right now in Florida is a natural and normal shaking out process after the big gold rush ended.

I think paintballer meant that of the Floridians who intend to move elsewhere, 50% are looking at TN. My experience matches this, with N. Georgia a close second, then NC and some heading for the Ozarks. Of course, there's a spillover into SC and WVA and I hear KY mentioned a lot, but none as frequently as TN, mostly East TN.

Also, it somewhat depends on whether you're talking about families still on the way up, or retirees starting to wind down. Retirees still go mostly to N GA and SW NC; families tend to say TN even more than 50%.

All that was determined by the non-scientific observations of a doddering old codger who just happened to own a 2nd home in NW North Carolina for 18 years until we sold it last October, and whose friends are all abandoning him for TN and N GA.

Finally, a statistic like that isn't limited to the folks who actually move, but includes all those who ever said, "I'm gonna move to ________" in a moment of frustration.

In my case, the __________ was Ecuador, every time we had a cold spell, because Ecuador doesn't get cold spells.

maybe it's all the 'green' attracting some people in Fl. to move to Tenn and N. Ga. When I say green, I don't mean money but forests.

I love green--I am Irish.

I hope prices dont rise too much in TN, NC and GA or it will become unaffordable too!
