With the economy in tough shape, who can afford a traffic ticket. Just a thought, why don't we all obey the speed limits, don't run red lights, have our insurance and registration up to date, make sure all of our running lights work, and don't drink and drive. They are only out to make money anyway. Why don't we obey the letter of the law and just drive safely. Most of us do it anyway. And when they find traffic ticket revenues falling, maybe we can put some of them out of business. It is not like the threat of tickets and DUI is a deterrent. There are probably moe DUI tickets than ever, although I don't have the exact statistics. Has the electric chair stopped murder?? But we can make a change. What if there were no tickets written in the next month? That would put a hurtin on revenue.

Kinda sounds like a rant.. received a ticket lately? I myself never have, maybe that's why I have nothing to complain about. I appreciate officers as more that ticket writers. And I love it when they bust someone who is driving unsafely

They're gonna get their revenue one way or the other. It might as well be off someone who breaks the law.

And I'd rather they get their money from truly awful drivers rather than having to resort to nit-picky fines and technicalities.

But...But...But.....if we do that what are people going to complain about? I mean you know those mean old cops are only out fundraising!!!

Those laws aren't actually on the books for a reason....and besides...they should only be enforced if the OTHER guy is doing it.

(((sarcasm)))

Let them get their revenue. Hire more cops. Get more patrols out on the freeways. I like having those guys around They do more than just traffic stops, you know.

With the recidivism rate at about 35% for murderers I would say the electric chair has stopped many murders.

Default Red Light Cameras...

How many readers know of an traffic intersection that is controled by left turn traffic (arrows) lights and as the light turns red..its not one..or two..or three drivers that go through the light..but five, six or more spilling back into the intersection as they try to squeeze in before the traffic going straight starts to move......if thet were to put Red Light Cameras at those intersections..the cops could stop giving tickets and instead concentrate on making the areas we live in more safe......but that I am sure it is just a dream...for we all know that the cops would still give out the tickets and the government would just find another way to spend the new windfall......

I don't mind cops giving tickets, but I don't like them coming from red light cameras. Those things are ripe for corruption.

With technology, they'll eventually come up with a device to monitor how much sleep you've gotten that day, as sleep-deprived drivers, as well-proven, are as dangerous as drunk drivers.

Ok, so you're stopped. You fail the test. Found out this driver was driving with only 3 hours sleep the night before. Has no business being on the road and endangering other people's lives. Officer confiscates his keys, impounds the vehicle, give him a fine, sends him on his way back home in a taxi.

Was reading an article in the paper yesterday about the distractions of drivers that can cause accidents, pets in the car being one, trying to give your pet some pets while driving the car.

Then there's the daydreamers, like myself, inspired by some CD I was playing in the car at the time. If I get into an accident some day, I'll know what to expect from these overly-focused police officers: a breathalyzer test, which I'll pass with flying colors!

Increasingly, in Las Vegas, when there's been a fatal accident, more often than senior citizens, I'm seeing medical episode as the cause.

Lots of dangerous drivers on our roads today beside speeders and drunk drivers.
