Considering that almost none of Florida's recent development included manufacturing, farming, energy development or high-tech manufacture is the current development sustainable? The apartments, condos, single-family homes, and townhomes have been built at a fast rate, and the only "commercial" development has been a few warehouses, retail shopping centers, office space, and outdoor recreational areas like golf courses, as well as Government sponsored staduims. Florida has little known energy reserves, poor transportation, and an ever-increasing beurocracy. The small amount of mining, and manufacture is directly tied to the construction industry. Professional services such as medical and legal, rely on vast sums of out-of-state money. The import and export business is a mix of legal and illegal items, many tied to real estate development. Most cities such as New York, Chicago, Pittsburgh and the like developed around new technology and industry. What will Florida fall back on when the US banking system collapses?
