I'm a native Texan, used to be a Michigander, then a Pennsylvanian, now a Floridian resident for 5 years and counting.

the only true natives are first and foremost the obvious ones. After that I don't consider anyone native until they've lived longer in Fla than where they came from. None of this "ive been here 10 years I'm a native".. Uh no...

You may be semantically correct ... but, if you want to make the thread about "illegal aliens" or DACA, why enter through the back door?

The underlying question is, "Should the children of someone who illegally enters the U.S., automatically be granted citizenship of both the state and country?" For example, many illegally cross the Southern borders so they can intentionally slip into a border hospital and give birth there (better healthcare, nominal cost AND automatic citizenship! ... plus ADC!). While some may consider that a human rights issue, others see it as taking advantage of American generosity, porous borders and a weak immigration system.

Words and euphemisms are often conveniently arranged to make the real issues sound more noble (ie; native) - while more relevant terms are ignored or made to sound wrong or unimportant (ie; legal, illegal).

oh please.... no one forced them to use drugs and alcohol. And peoples and societies have been conquered throughout human history. American Indians are not an exception to this.

If you implied to a fourth- or fifth-generation "Florida cracker" from Blountstown or Live Oak that a person from Boca Raton or Coral Springs with Jewish-American parents from New York or New Jersey is also a "native Floridian," you would get laughed outta town.
