I thought we needed a Master thread on things to do in Florida.

Big or small, hidden or not hidden list all the things you have done, liked to do, places you have visited and recommend, places you want to visit, events you attended, festivals, shows, theme parks, nature, antiques, towns, historical places etc.

The first thing I remember as a kid going to Florida was stopping by the welcome center and getting my first cup of Florida OJ.

But the thing that really has stuck in my mind other then the beaches and orange groves and the first thing on my list is:

Citrus Tower, Clermont.

This could be quite a list for me! Things I can recommend:

-Any of the theme parks.. Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens. They're all wonderful.
-Floating down a natural lazy river at Rock Springs in Kelly Park (Apopka)
-Lazing on the beach at Fort DeSoto
-The swanky shopping area of Palm Beach
-Historic downtown Mt. Dora, with its major Craft Fair and Art Festival
-Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney
-Shopping along Park Ave. in Winter Park
-Off Roading in a Jeep (anywhere you can find land!)
-Amelia Island
-Enjoying a Cuban Sandwich in Ybor City
-The Old Spanish Sugar Mill at DeLeon Springs
-Camping (preferably at Fort Wilderness)
-Canoeing the Wekiva River

On my To-Do List:
-Webster Feal Market
-Washington Oaks Gardens
-Bok Tower Gardens
-Gatorland

I really enjoyed the Florida Caverns State Park. It's up in Jackson County in the Panhandle, but it's supposed to be the only cave system in Florida.

Being a native Tampanian, Gasparilla has always had a special place in my heart.

There are a few festivals that I'd like to visit:
Possum Festival in Wausau
Corn Festival in Zellwood
Worm Gruntin' Festival in Sopchoppy
Kumquat Festival in Dade City

I've seen the Citrus Tower, but I've never been inside. Weeki Wachee is cool, as is Sunken Gardens, but I'd really like to visit Silver Springs.

Thank you Ferret.

It used to be an awesome sight to go up the Citrus Tower and see all the orange groves. Then the frost in I believe the late 80's destroyed many of the trees and most never re grew them and moved further south and re planted.

Still worth the trip up the tower.
