Was wondering how many people bought a house with a pool and now regret the decision because they never use the pool.
First time using the poll feature and i see i forgot the once a month option guess it'll have to be a write in..

I hope you get some replies, Jambo.
I swim 3-4-sometimes 5 days a week at the local rec center (I buy a 4 month pass 3 times a year), and my husband keeps saying we should install our own solar-heated lap pool.
But I still wonder if it would be cost effective.

As i said in the other topic every one i know in Florida either doesnt have a pool or doesn't use the one they have, in fact most longterm Floridians i know have even given up going to the beach.
I posted the poll to see how a poll works and to see if in general the pool is just a novelty to new Floridians and the hassle of maintenance and cost outweighs its appeal after a few years.

I wouldn't buy a house without a pool! Like I said before, in the heat of the summer, the pool is the only way I enjoy the outdoors and backyard! Otherwise I would be sitting inside in the AC somewhere, so I enjoy getting outside, enjoying the scenery, and relaxing in the pool.

Talking For The Dogs

I would never buy a house without a pool...if for no other reason than to watch the dogs swim......of course I would be forced to join them so they could have someone to throw the toys for them...but I would like so thoughts on salt water or the standard pool...

We owned a home with a pool for several years and used it all the time. We maintained the home ourselves, except for the pool. Getting a service was money well-spent, as while we were remodeling, the pool was always our oasis- clean and inviting. Our backyard was very private and at night, when the kids went to bed, we would go skinny dipping. We also spent a lot of time grilling and eating out by the pool. We never tired of it.

We had a pool in our last house and only used it August-October (not a heated pool, so had to wait until it was 80+). Now we don't have one but we miss it sometimes. Next house we will have one, but fairly small with a heat pump and NO CAGE.

We do, however, go swimming at the beach every weekend during the summer!

Thumbs up Yes Yes a Pool

We are building a home in Florida and most definitly will have a pool..heated so that we can use it year round...will we probably not but I love the idea that its there and I can use it anytime I want.

I equate it with having my own skis and a season ski pass..did I ski all the time no but I sure liked the idea that I could

I bought a house with a pool and love it. It's not heated, so it gets used about April - October when the water temp is nice and warm. It is used most every weekend day during "pool season," and ALMOST every single night (and yes, sometimes sans clothing, lol, due to a nice privacy fence and lush vegetation!)

I don't think I ever want to buy or live in another house without a pool in Florida... the $60-$70/month is maintenance is worth it, IMO.

We have a house with a pool. Our last house had a pool. I would not live in FL without a pool. It makes our backyard into a tranquil sanctuary.

We use the pool all the time in the warmer months We use the spa in the winter. When we have guest from out of town, or when the kids are home for winter/spring break we turn the heater on and use the pool then also.

We do go stretches without using the pool but we use it.
