I want to share our experience and the experience of many homeowners who own waterfront homes in Florida. This is the part no one talks about, because it doesn't happen to everyone and it is so unthinkable.

Because most of the lakes in Florida are manmade and, to a lesser degree the natural lakes, the probability of shoreline erosion is quite high. Once this begins, there is no stopping it. And, because this is the very last thing on any of our minds, we don't tend to notice.

As you begin your house search here, keep this in the front (not back) of your mind. Your realtor will never admit that this is a problem. Planting the right trees helps little. Your homeowners insurance does not cover this either.
