We have discussed many times over the problem with achieving a job that pays better than $10.00 per hours. I do believe that good paying jobs are available in the state, but based on your trait you must move to another county/city to get a job if your current location lacks the employment opportunities. If you don't want to post that is OK, just vote for your category....

lol, forum polling at its best.

Perhaps since this is Florida, the title should be "My LEGAL yearly salary" substantiated by W2, 1099, etc....

The Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that the average income in the United States is roughly $46k, and the Florida average income has historically ALWAYS been lower. Florida is listed at 36 out of 50 States, with an avg salary of 40k.

My husband started at the same salary ($75,000) 3 years ago that he made in NY. The company in Naples, who recruited him, also paid his moving expenses to Florida.

I currently work in NY with clients who have developmental disablitities. I used to work in the school district here in NY as a TA for special education students. I have applied to the school district in Florida. A general TA pays about $12/hour with 3 years experience and a TA working with behavior/developmental issues students pays about $15/hour with 3 years experience. The pay scale goes up accordingly with more years of experience. Both of these positions pay about the same as I was paid when I worked in the school district here. However, Collier hires paras full time with benefits, whereas my old school district here didn't.

The school district contacted me the day after I applied online and asked for personal references, copies of my degree (Associates), etc. So I have my fingers crossed with this.

If all goes right, we will have a combined income of just over $100,000 for just the two of us. Our kids are grown up.

You forgot to include Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach in the poll.
These areas are not considered Miami or Central Florida.
