Some people moves to Florida Trying to find a better place to live near the beach with a fabulous temperature. The problem is that all big cities are very congested and the prices of properties are too high. My recommendation is to move to a small town in central Florida. The reason is simple, you can go anywhere you want in jus one hour and small towns bring you a peaceful place to live not to far away from big cities

In northwest Florida we have a very sound Aerospace industry from manufacturing, installation, development, test, that supports 5 large military bases. This allows for growth of other industries to sustain over 20K active military and over 35K retired military. Some of the counties can survive directly from the millions of dollars that are here permanently flushed to the local economy. Very secured industry, and you can add a smaller tourist industry, excellent school system, great colleges/universities, and this becomes paradise...

Well, 'very congested' is relative I guess - I find Jax to be dense, but not congested.

Prices in our area are about the same whether you choose the smaller surrounding cities or Jax itself, especially the closer you get to the water (the great equalizer ).

"My recommendation is to move to a small town in central Florida."

morrissey, change the word, "central" to "northern," and then i'll agree completely. for some reason, even the small town around here in orlando area, seem to have higher than average crime. kissimmee, poinciana, sanford, altamonte, melbourne, palm bay, etc...

Those are "suburbs", not small towns. Palm Bay and Altamonte aren't even small...

Sunrico, you do this gal's heart good! I've always been so proud of the area of the panhandle you call home and so near where I was raised. I'm from a small town just over the bridge from Destin and it's just as good as Sunrico says it is.
It's such a special place and it will always, always be home no matter where else I live. As we've always said, once you visit and get that sand in your shoes, you'll never want to leave.
