I have been getting conflicting info when it comes to the winters here. I don't know what to buy because we're so used to snow and the cold. We just moved from Mass to Key West

How cold does it get? I can't wait until winter no snow.. sun is shining

How about a couple pair of blue jeans and a light windbreaker jacket. It can get cool in the keys - not much colder than in the mid '60's during winter. Oh, once in a blue moon it will dip into the 40's for a few hours, but that's rare.

Welcome to Florida. How cold does it get? It doesn't. How hurricane prone are you in Key West? Very.

I'm not worried about the hurricanes. We are military so they make sure we're out of here before it hits... as for our belongings hey we have insurance. We don't own any property here so thats a relief

You will never experience freezing temperatures in the Keys. As for hurricanes? You're a small target in a hurricane zone so it's all a matter of chance. Remember that if a cat 4 or 5 hurricane hits anywhere along the overseas highway, it could be months before you can drive to Key West.

Ya know, of the few things I miss about Florida, Key West - more specifically Old Town - is the top of the list, but the winters are up there too. Don't get me wrong - I got to have my very first ever Christmas with snow this year and was so excited. But after growing up decorating palm trees with white lights and Christmas dinner being the entire family together having a picnic on the beach, the mountains are very different. It's odd having a real Christmas tree to decorate. I do miss the palms covered in white lights! How many places can you go swimming in the ocean on Christmas day?
