Because I'm one of the 66% of Floridians who moved into Florida from somewhere else, I've heard names given to describe "the two Floridas" referring to socio-culuturally, climactically, and economically. What names have you heard?

I've heard:

Long Florida - I hope this has no reference to Long Island, NY since there are so many New Yorkers in South Florida. I understand that "Long Florida" is short for "Longitudinal Florida", meanig the Florida peninsula. This constrast with...

Lat Florida - short for "Latitudinal Florida", which means the area of Florida east-to-west from Jacksonville in Duval county to Pensacola in Escambia county. Basically the panhandle of Florida.

Vertical Florida - I understand this to mean peninsular Florida: energetic, dynamic and powerful enough to defy the effects of gravity (or death) as evidenced by all our senior citizens here. This contrasts with...

Horizontal Florida - this is the east-to-west part of Florida from Jacksonville to Pensacola: quiet, cold, dead the opposite of "vertical Florida".

These terms make sense to me since both areas are different socioculturally, climactically, and economically.

SoFlo - this seems trendy nowadays, which is short for South Florida kinda of like SoHo, SoBe or Lodo (in Denver).

So here's everything:

LoFlo
LatFlo
VertFlo
HoFlo
SoFlo

Never heard of any of them in more than 35 years. Could not find any of them in a Google search. Someone has a vivid imagination?

I've used the terms "NoFla" and SoFla" before.

"I'm gonna be in SoFla this weekend."
