Are you basing Tampa and Jacksonville as boring because it's not as "life in the fast lane" as South Florida?

Economy - Jax/Miami
Safety - Tampa
Family - all
Culture - Miami
Sports - Tampa/Miami
Nature - ? (there cities), though Tampa has the "nature coast" to the north!
Weather - Jax

As far as "which is the best city in Florida", it depends on you. Miami's weather stays above 80, Tampa and Orlando gets more of a winter relief, and Jax has 4 seasons. Miami beach is famous and busy, Tampa's beaches are usually voted best in USA, Orlando is more about it's fresh water lakes, and Jax Beach has that NE beach town feel where everyone comes in the summer then you got the beach to your self in the winter which can be a plus. Sports is abundance here, though each city is big in it's own sport like Miami and Tampa is big in every sport, but Orlando only has NBA in pro, and Jax only has NFL in pro, though Orlando has NASCAR up the road, and Jax has the PGA championship, and tennis. Some cities have roller-girls teams, fishing tournaments, lingerie football teams, and some don't. Culture is what you think of it, though every city has museums, art work, and community gatherings, in general Miami has more of a Caribbean and Everglades feel, to where Tampa has a nice mixture of country and city life w/ undiscovered-like beaches, to where Orlando is in the middle of everything w/ everything that's a small city w/ a big city feel to where Jacksonville is a big city w/ a small city feel. And, safety is no different then anywhere else, you might be unlucky one day, but it's mostly a matter of not being in the wrong place hanging with the wrong people, though every city has it's weird ones, it's Florida. The economy is coming back, and is still vibrant in the service industry. I would think it depends on what your trait is, either or, Florida has a bright future in it's economy. But, besides all that, you gotta get in where you fit in, me, I couldn't live in Florida w/out living on the coast, Miami is to far south, plus I'm from PA, Spanish speaking people isn't normal for me, and it's to crowded down there for me as well, Jax is great, and I love the weather, but I'm a sports junkie, and I'd get bored to being able to go to the games. The Tampa Bay area seems to be just right, though after living in Ocala, my family moved to Jax, go figure...

Ft. Lauderdale is a big city. I'm surprised it's not mentioned here much at all.

I'm native Floridian and Jax the last place I would live in Florida. Jax feels like Georgia, the people, foilage, etc. Nothing about the city reminds me I'm in Florida.
