New Tampa is a nice place that is newer and has younger folks and families. So don't confuse it with Tampa proper, which is different, though it is very close to Tampa. Tampa area in general has a lot to do and is close to everything, though traffic can get congested. There is a LOT more work in the general Tampa area versus Sarasota, and the pay is usually 20% better in the Tampa area versus Sarasota (though you will have a tough time finding anything in Sarasota, just slim pickings for the good jobs where Tampa has many many to choose from). St Pete is a larger city than most realize, and there are a lot of major corporations there (for work), just over the bridge from Tampa. So you can live in New Tampa and commute to St Pete for work as needed.

Lake Mary is very nice and is (IMO) one of the nicest areas of the Orlando area. There are many job opportunities there as well, and many are on the north side of town, closer to Lake Mary. There are many young families and lots of things to do. The plus side is the theme parks are only an hour or less away and there are many nice restauarants and fun things near Orlando. Also you are close enough to Daytona Beach and the Atlantic Ocean that you can go there for day trips easily.

Sarasota is nice but a lot smaller townish. The bad part is the volume of jobs is more small town compared to Tampa and Orlando, which are much larger cities with major corporations there. Plus a lot of retirees in the general Sarasota area...a LOT of them. Though Lakewood Ranch and other areas have many families. But Orlando area and Tampa area has a much younger pool of folks there, in general.

I don't know Jupiter at all.

In response to swear2cod, good post, but, "New Tampa" actually is the city of Tampa proper.

Lakewood Ranch is rather nice from what I've heard and seen from the area. A friend of mine and her family moved there from Key West and they're very happy in Lakewood Ranch. It's fairly new, clean, safe, close access to Tampa and it's family oriented.
