Hello everyone, I am renting an apartment complex in Hillsboro County (Captiva Club Apts) I've had quite a few problems with the office staff and I'm looking for some ways I can gain some respect with them.

I moved in April 2011 and since then the office staff has been completely rude. I've always paid on time, never been a hassle with them and always keep my calm (i.e. dont scream yell, etc...) Now I went in the office today to request a work order be made up to fix a small water leak. The staff agent "RJ" has always had a bit of 'attitude' about him, which I have been able to ignore until today where he walked away from me while I was speaking with him about instructions on when maintenance would be able to enter my apartment. I followed him into the other room where I continued to give him instructions that he completely blew off to do something else. I proceeded to then ask for a copy of my work order (for documentation purposes) and the entire office staff (5) met me at thier doorway and told me that they were not allowed to give them out. Well, not two weeks ago did I receive a copy of one from the assistant manager (Joan) So I stated my argument in a stable tone, and was met with the response "Anyone who has given you a work order copy was going against company policy"

So my questions are:

1. Am I able to view these "Company policies" somewhere?
2. Would making a formal complaint hurt me more than it would help me?
3. I feel as if I am treated like a piece of dirt whenever I go into that office, what is the best way to get some respect without coming off as a complete prick?
4. Also, is there a law somewhere that states I do have the right to obtain these work orders when placed?

Maybe even, would it be possible that I complete a form myself and have them just make a copy and sign off that it was made??

They are not required to provide you with a work order or show you any proprietary documents such as company policies. The only time they would have to provide such things is if there was a court case and the documents were subpoenaed.

I don't know what you're referring to when you talk about a "formal complaint." If they are violating the provisions of the Landlord Tenant Act then there are legal remedies that you can pursue. If you're just upset because they're not nice to you and won't give you what you want, a "formal complaint" probably isn't going to do any good because that's not at all governed by the law.
