The numbers look right. Miami is about the same as here in Southwest FL.The index is what does it. The higher the dew point the worse it feels. The only time I am comfortable here(including my health issues) is November-march, after that forget it... 89 here in Estero right now, but feels like 101... And believe me it sure feels it.

I spent a few years in the high desert of California. Temps got up to 115 in the summer. You did any yard work early in the morning and then hid out in the house from 10-2. By the time the sun went down though it was pretty nice out. You could enjoy dinner on your patio and sleep with the air off, enjoying a breeze through the windows.

The dry heat was hot, but it didn't suck the air out of your lungs the way humidity does.

it's called humidity and UV index. and the fact that when the sun goes down it doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
i grew up in north florida and went to school in tampa. when i moved from tampa -- loading up the moving van - end of july - midnight. it was 90 degrees! you should not sweat like a pig at midnight.
and the fact that frequently you get the above 85 temps as early as mid april, and it sometimes doesn't let up until mid november. that's just wrong.
this past halloween we were in shorts and t shirts.

i always think people are crazy when they vacation and say they love the weather. i'm thinking, yeah, you love it for 2 weeks. not 7 months.
having gotten out of here for 10 years and living in seattle, columbus-ohio, and santa cruz, and now being back-- i can't wait to leave again!

sorry about the rant.

Walking around Toronto in -15 degree weather with the wind chill in January made me yearn for a 90+ summer day in FL. My ears literally felt like they had pins in them at that temp, even with a hat and scarf on.

As for the OP, it's not just the heat, it's the humidity!

"Paradise" is in the eye of the beholder. I just don't see paradise as 8 months of heat and humidity. Pretty much everything else about FL is ok, but the heat is neverending.

Its hotter and more humid here than it is there now. In terms of those averages, weve been near records the past two years.

But the averages are close anyways.

Yes, youlive in paradise compared to where I live. We have higher temps in the summer and severe winters. Id take heat any day over the winter.

I do know florida is tough to make it in though. Its one of the states you need to move away from, get experience, then move back so you can land a decent job. Perhaps that is why some are bitter.

I have a decent job, I am doing well. I however after nearly 18 years of summers here have the same feeling you have in the winter there(depression) and also a health issue which made it worse, so I am now leaving FL to go back to MA in October. The heat didn't really get to me until about 5 years ago. I hate being stuck inside except for work for 8 months, windows all closed up, fake air to cool the house... It's all about personal preferance. Hopefully you will get here. The job part, PLEASE make sure you really look into that. This state is suffering big time right now. Businesses are hiring longer time FL residents over new residents it seems.

Agreed. I'd rather live in FL than the midwest for weather. You guys have colder, snowier icier winters and hotter summers

Twenty minutes to midnight right now in southwest coastal FL, right over a canal, and 1.5 walking miles from the harbor: 80, feels like 87. There has not been one NIGHT since the middle of June when the temperature (together with humidity) was below 85. Daytime temperature with humidity has been hovering in the range of high 90s and mid 100s.

I had better, I had worse. I'm not complaining, just stating the facts.
