"Halfbacks" are Northerners who moved to Florida, decided they didn't like the heat or whatever, and then moved again to places like North Carolina or Tennessee. I think this is a relatively recent trend, or at least I didn't start hearing about it until recently.

Regardless, I'm staying put here. The only other part of the country I would consider is the West.

This has been going on for awhile. You would be blown away by the number of Floridians who now live full time (or half-time) in the NC mountains. Florida license plates are everywhere.

Same where I am as well. A lot of grandparents visiting kids/grandkids during summer vacation.

I'm also seeing a lot of construction & landscaping workers here from Florida as well. I've talked to a few and they say they are finding more work up here these days (no big surprise) but will be back in Florida come late fall/winter.

Tough times unfortunately. And people go where their skillsets are needed. I'm in that boat as well (well, I left for a better opportunity though I'd like to get back someday).
