I realize this is going to be a dumb question in a Florida thread - but - are there any mobile home parks with rentals that arent 55 and up? I am just trying to find a cheap rental to decide if I want to live in Florida before I sell my house here. Every search I find comes up with parks where they want you to buy the home (which can never be removed... how convienent) and on top of that want you to pay a monthly lot rental fee equal to just renting a place outright. I'm either going to rent or buy... but damned sure not both! I also have no interest in apartments or condo's or townhouses or any other place where my nearest neighbor is 4 inches away. I'd prefer a secluded place in the country but thats probably non-existant. Its just me and my dog so I dont care if its a trailer or what. Thanks.

Honestly I have been so infactuated with San Diego (GREAT weather BTW) that I havent checked out the Florida posts on there in quite some time. Its the politics in Cali that have turned my focus back to Florida. I love the idea of not spending half my life freezing to death, but am not quite willing to give up my freedom to attain that goal... California requires you give up being a free human in order for the "privilege" of residing in their state. Its a shame... Southern California happends to be the best place geography-wise to live yet the politics turn the God-given paradise into a man-made sewer.

Your best bet would probably be in some of the smaller more rural towns. Not sure you will find a rental in a park - most parks have rules about that. But you might find one on it's own land for rent. I used to see these when we lived in the small town of Dade City in an around town.

The other thing you could do would be to search the internet for parks in Florida and call them and see if they have rentals. You might want to narrow down where you want to live first.

Good luck!

Maybe Craigslist is a good option, but put in your own ad, listing what you are looking for. Many of the rural areas have folks who have mobile homes for rent that are off the beaten path. Some of the RV parks also have rentals - some are mobile homes and some are park models. Florida is lousey with mobile homes. You ought to be able to find what you are looking for.
